I am Professor Kamel Hussein Alwan Al-Sudani, a graduate of the Department of Chemistry – College of Education – University of Basra in 1979. I worked as a teaching assistant in the same department for three years. I was granted a study leave to complete my Ph.D. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom in 1987, specializing in Analytical Chemistry. I worked at the University of Basra – College of Education for Pure Sciences (formerly College of Education), Department of Chemistry, from 1980 until 1999. I then worked at Sana’a University – College of Education and Sciences, Hajja branch, for four years. I returned to work at the College of Education for Pure Sciences in 2004 until my retirement in 2024. I am currently working at Al-Arab University College – College of Science – as Head of the Department of Pathological Analysis Sciences.

I hold seven patents in my area of specialization, Flow Injection Analysis (FIA) and Microfluidics, which involved the design and construction of various analytical systems entirely in our laboratories.

I have published more than 70 research papers in Clarivate- and Scopus-indexed journals, as well as international and local journals.

I have participated in dozens of international and local conferences.

I have supervised 25 postgraduate theses and dissertations (M.Sc. and Ph.D.).

My current research interests focus on the design of flow injection and microfluidic analytical systems, manufactured entirely in our laboratories, and equipped with locally built spectrophotometric, fluorescence, or chemiluminescence detectors, operating autonomously and integrated with microcontrollers.
